| On the second matchday of the 2.Bundesliga Nurnberg face the strong team of Darmstadt which is a highly explosive clash. The guests kicked off the new season last week with a 4-1 win. For the first time since 2018, Darmstadt won their opening match and with a strong 4-1 victory against Bochum. Since the 3-0 win against Greuther Furth in March, the hosts have lost all four of their home games something that has never happened before for Nurnberg in the 2nd division. But there is one small ray of hope. The club has almost always done well in its first home game of the 2nd division, only once having suffered a defeat at the start in 2019 with a 0-4 loss against Hamburger. Darmstadt arrives with a completely different level of self-confidence. Last season, the guests were consistently stuck in the bottom half of the table, but now after the start of the season, they're suddenly in second place. Considering that Nurnberg only picked up 13 points from 18 games against the league's top teams last season, there's a lot to be said for the visitors. Nurnberg desperately needs a sense of success but Darmstadt is not an easy opponent. |
